Small, Self-contains Payloads (Get Away Specials)

The GAS payloads are self-contained experiment packages. Each experimenter is responsible for
providing his own electrical power, heating, data handling facilities, etc., within his own GAS
container. The only service provided by the Shuttle are three on-off controls that will be operated by
an astronaut.
